Academic Children's Hospital
Little hearts need great care! We are a small hospital in the vastness, and it is precisely in the small that our greatness lies. Here, all the expertise a sick child may need is available, along with good collaboration, respect, and care. We offer a really good introduction for newcomers and many interesting opportunities for development. There is also unexpectedly much joy in what can sometimes be very difficult. We take care of the children and their families, and we take care of each other – because we know that we do a much better job together!
Our Operations
The Children's Hospital is the pediatric clinic of Uppsala University Hospital. Within the Academic Children's Hospital, there are specializations such as pediatric surgery, neurology, neonatology, and oncology. Our social workers are part of the pediatric paramedicine section, which consists of various professional categories such as physiotherapists, psychologists, preschool teachers, and dietitians.
Your Mission
As a social worker at the Academic Children's Hospital, you primarily work with the patient's (child's) guardians and have a family-centered perspective. You work both in inpatient care for departments where children and adolescents are treated and in outpatient care for the Academic Children's Hospital's specialist clinics. This temporary position is for you who want to try working with several of the hospital's operations and thus gain breadth and a varied assignment. A large part of the work involves holding crisis and support conversations with guardians and supporting them in difficult situations such as providing bereavement support to parents who have lost their child. In addition, the tasks include making psychosocial assessments, supporting guardians in contact with social authorities, and informing families about their rights. You will also collaborate with the healthcare system at large and with other authorities.
Your Qualifications and Competence
A basic requirement for the position is that you have a degree in social work. It is advantageous if you are a licensed healthcare social worker or have previous work experience in healthcare or child and youth services. It is a strength if you have experience working with children and families in difficult situations and knowledge of how families are affected when a child is affected by illness or injury. We would like you to have experience in holding support conversations, and you as a person need to be attracted to working in an acute-driven environment that requires great flexibility and where no day is like the other. Great emphasis is placed on good collaboration skills, the ability to plan and drive your own work, and personal suitability.
We Offer
We offer a full-time temporary position until 2026-02-28, starting by agreement while one of our colleagues is on parental leave. We have an eclectic working method and offer supervision with an external supervisor, flexible hours, and wellness benefits. Before hiring, extracts from the police's suspicion and criminal records will be taken. With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
